We all know how important it is to make the right impression when you are attending an exhibition. The stand needs to be bright, colourful and dressed to impress. In many instances, brands will choose fabric coverings for the shell scheme.
These graphics give a premium look and convey the right message. The challenge being, what you do with those coverings once the event is over? It’s highly unlikely you will get them to fit perfectly a second time around and it makes no sense to have them sitting in the back of a cupboard.
Well, for Glaziers Hall, we were fortunate enough to meet with Story Events, a company that gives these fabric graphics a second lease of life!
A Second Life for Event Graphics
After hosting the London Summer Event Show and London Christmas Party Show, we were left with a collection of fabric graphics that still had so much potential. Instead of discarding these materials, Story Events suggested we donate them to be used for art projects in the local community.
Avoiding the skip, these fabrics were turned into resources that could inspire creativity and learning. In fact, our donation has found its way to two different locations, each with its own unique approach to reusing these materials.
Inspiring Young Minds
Tower Bridge Primary School and Glebe Farm School have been the first to receive materials. These graphics are now being used in arts and crafts projects, sparking creativity in the classroom.
For schools, these donations provide valuable resources and an opportunity to do something different. It’s one of the ways we’re proud to support our local community while simultaneously reducing waste.
Supporting Local Creativity
Work and Play Scrapstore, a charity dedicated to promoting sustainability, has also received some of the materials. With over 30 years of experience, this company diverts more than 60 tonnes of materials from landfill. It transforms what others might see as waste into valuable materials that artists and creatives can reimagine.
Working with community groups, schools, and individuals, these materials are accessible and affordable, making it a win, win for everyone concerned.
At Glaziers Hall, we’re constantly exploring ways to reduce our environmental footprint. From our energy-efficient spaces to the approach we take to event planning, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.
This initiative is a reminder of how collaboration within the events industry can drive positive change, and we are so pleased to be part of it.
