Youth charity Centrepoint has been able to significantly grow and improve its annual talent showcase ‘Centrepoint Has Talent’ through choosing leading London events venue Glaziers Hall as the backdrop for its 12th edition.
The London-based charity, which helps more than 9,000 homeless people aged 16-25 a year into homes and jobs and has such high-profile sponsors as JP Morgan and Selfridges, organises the event to showcase the masterpieces created by young people on its creative arts programme.
Digital Trainer Daniel Morris was event organiser for this showcase, with ambitious plans to grow it into a star-studded extravaganza that would celebrate the young people’s incredible hard work and drive.
One of the essential criteria was that the venue had a range of spaces to accommodate the varying requirements of the day – from dressing rooms to a creche for people attending with children – that also offered a sophisticated AV system and on-site support to ensure a seamless event. Not only that, with a roster of prestigious donors, it was important that the venue was an authentic and high-quality reflection of the charity, event and hard work of the young people involved.
A venue that delivers
Glaziers Hall met all the criteria and more, providing six of its unique event spaces free of charge to the worthwhile cause. The main Banqueting Hall provided a stunning space for fashion show, complete with catwalk, whilst the Bridge and Thames rooms were chosen as male/female dressing rooms. The Court room offered childcare so parents were free to enjoy the day and the River Room was a space for the performers to network, drink and refuel on doughnuts donated by rapper ASAP Rocky. The River Room also provided the opportunity for guests to admire the unique, dramatic views of the London skyline from across the water.
Glaziers Hall’s brand-new, state-of-the-art AV system ensured the event’s lighting, audio and video was of a high standard, with Glaziers Hall offering expert advice and even extra equipment, and the fully-staffed cloakroom meant each guest could securely store their belongings.
Star-studded success
With a final attendee number hitting the 300 mark, the event was a resounding success and the generous capacity of the venue meant that people were comfortable as they milled around.
The impressive guest list featured a number of famous faces, including a well-known grime artist who performed as a finale to the evening, as well as the programme’s valued mentors and supporters. Tailors from the globally-renowned Fielding & Nicholson of Savile Row secured a front row seat to see the pieces they had supported the young people in creating, bringing with them their associates – top pattern cutters from China – whilst esteemed curators from the V&A and fashion tutors from UCL also joined to celebrate the creativity on display.
Daniel Morris commented: “From small aspects such as the foyer’s stunning exposed brick fitting perfectly with our ‘Concrete Jungle’ theme, to the unwavering support of Glaziers Hall’s operations team, I couldn’t fault the service provided by the venue and the overall experience we achieved by hosting Centrepoint Has Talent in its beautifully-renovated rooms.
